Northamptonshire English Garden Wedding

October 26, 2011 in UK Weddings, Vintage Wedding by Chantale

I’m so excited to share with you guys Katie and Gareth’s wedding. It’s immensely gorgeous and hails from Northamptonshire, England. Pretty, posh and perfect. Truly, this wedding is the breath of fresh air we all need to get us over the mid-week hump. Drink up the lush florals, adorable DIY treats and pretty countryside. All dancing before us today by means of Debs Ivelja’s incredible photography. As a treat, our bride, Katie, has a few words about her wedding:

When Gareth and I imagined our wedding we had no idea where to start, all we knew was it had to be set in the countryside and reflect us as a couple. Once we had found the idyllic venue set in Northamptonshire’s rolling hills we knew it was the perfect place to hold our quintessentially British affair, from the miniature cream teas at cocktail hour to the magnificent views this was the place for us.

My wedding dress was my main inspiration, it was so soft and romantic and had a timeless feel to it. Inspiration came from all different places, I have passion for ballet and I loved the muted pink hues and tulle to create a classic look for my bridesmaids. Other inspiration for the wedding came from Cecil Beaton portraits, filled with lace, pearls and timeless elegance.

For the flowers we wanted to use seasonal flowers, big blowsy peonies, vintage roses and wildflowers. Our weekends were spent finding lace tablecloths, cut glass bowls and vintage brooches from flee markets and charity stores which finished off the vintage look. Gareth being a computer programmer wanted to have his own techie project, so instead of the traditional table plan he dreamed up his very own system that could be used on his iPad. We had some beautiful custom escort cards with our silhouette’s on made by the talented Erin of Lucky Luxe, Gareth then added a radio-frequency ID tag to the back of each card. So when guests touched the iPad with their card a custom message and their table would flash up on the screen!

We had such an amazing day, my highlights include walking to the church with the piper literally stopping traffic and seeing Gareth’s face when we said our vows. The next day was so surreal, at the airport lounge we talked about every single detail of the wedding while wolfing down huge slices of our raspberry and amaretto cake…it was a perfect ending!

Rustic Meets Vintage Meets DIY {OMG}

October 6, 2011 in Rustic Wedding, South Carolina, South Carolina Wedding, Vintage Wedding by Chantale

I hate when people are cooler than me. Well not really. But kinda. I’m just a little in awe of people’s personal style when it comes off so effortlessly and charming.  Take, Carman and Oscar for example. Their South Carolina coolness is coming out strong in their wedding. The details are just spot on and completely breathtaking, and….easy.  The perfect combo of DIY + vintage + rustic, right?  I hope you enjoy their stunning wedding photos as much as I did.  A big shout out to Richard Ellis Photography for their mad skill and photographic artistry.

High School Sweethearts {LOVE THEM}

September 16, 2011 in Engagement Shoots, Vintage Wedding by Chantale

Can anyone deny the cred that high school sweethearts deserve? In the world of love they get some mad street cred. Teenage love is an untameable beast, and when it blossoms into adult amour it becomes the perfect meld of BFFs turn lovers.  Its bond is unshakeable.  And for that reason, I’m a sucker for high school sweethearts. Danny & Shayna part of this category of  sweethearts and are getting married at the end of July. Shayna is a photographer and a lover of vintage…and dobermans.  Um, Shayna, can we be friends?  Cuz you seem cool.  And when photographers pick other photographers as their own photographers (you still with me?) then you know they’re good. So basically you can trust that when Shayna chose KIMBRYstudios to take her photos, she knew they would deliver.  And boy did they ever.  LOVE the sun-washed photos.  So vintage!  Here’s Shayna with some advice and inspiration:

indie engagement

I got the inspiration from the decor in my home. The inspiration for the dog was just because we looove dobermans- we cant have one til we get a bigger place, so having one in our engagements was the next best thing. I wanted it to have a whimsical feel to the photos.

Advice to future brides… don’t sweat the small details. Thy end up working out anyway. Just remember that the biggest decision has already been taken care of- you found the one you want to spend the rest of your life with! If you can keep that in perspective, you’ll be a lot happier letting the small stresses go.
