I LOVE when readers send photos of DIY projects they’ve picked up from our DIY section. LOVE. Emily from Emily Takes Photos was particularly smitten with the DIY Pinwheel tutorial we posted earlier this week (care of Sofia from BrancoPrata) and she decided to take the idea, and turn it into a full blow DIY wreath project. Genius. Sheer. Genius. So I thought I would share her results with you guys since they’re pretty ridiculously amazing. Happy Friday everyone. Stay tuned for some news about some excited stuff we have in store for the next two weeks!

OH BOY. OH BOY. It’s DIY day! And this special DIY was inspired by a real bride featured here on La Belle Bride. Remember this wedding video? Oh yeah, it was awesome. But I became a wee bit obsessed with the adorable that Danielle (bride) had made for her vintage wedding. Which is why today we’re making a…
DIY Felt Heart Wedding Bouquet
Oh, and did I neglect to mention that this crafty yet adorable little wedding bouquets COSTS LESS THAN $10?! Yes, a $10 wedding bouquet. It is possible! Here it is:

Materials:
- Felt
- Cotton Batting
- Cloth Stem Wiring
- Needles (large enough for embroidery thread)
- Embroidery Thread
- Scissors
- Heart Cookie Cutter or Any Heart Template
- Ribbon (thick and thin)
- OPTIONAL: Floral Tape
- Glue Gun

Instructions:
- Using your cookie cutter or heart template trace out your heart shapes onto your felt. We used a heart cookie cutter that’s about 3 inches tall
- Cut out your hearts
- Using your embroidery thread and a needle start stitching your hearts. Make sure that the sides you traced on are now facing inwards so that you don’t have any pen/pencil marks on the outsides of your hearts
- Stitch the entire way around your heart, leaving about 3/4 of an inch near the pointed end of your heart
- Gently stuff your heart with a small amount of batting
- Take your clothe wire stem and make a tiny loop at the end. Place the looped end inside the heart and begin sewing up the last remainder of your heart while you wrap neatly around the stem as well. The looped wire end will prevent your stem from coming out of the heart. Note: If you don’t want long stems you may be able to cut your stems in half thus doubling your stem. THERE! Your heart-on-a-stick is done! Make as many as you’d like depending on what sized bouquet you’d like.
- Once you’ve created all your heart-on-a-sticks you can start arranging them in a bouquet. If you’re on your own, use some floral tape to help secure the placement of each heart
- Once you’re happy with your arrangement, you can add your ribbon. Using a glue gun (sparingly) being wrapping your ribbon around your stem. Use whatever width and texture of ribbon you’d like!

Cuteness. Like Danielle, you can choose to make small boutonierres using just the heart and sewing a safety pin on the back. Smaller felt heart bouquets would be perfect for bridesmaids too.

Special thanks to Kristen, Eve and 2 bottles of Shiraz – who all contributed to the making of this DIY. xoxo!

I like throwing a massive amount of DIY wedding inspiration into one post. And Aaron Shintaku’s wedding photos from Kelly and Eric’s wedding made this super duper easy. It was DIY mania. Bows and pillows and stir sticks and…and….and silly string of course. Part one was full of fun DIY wedding inspiration two so be sure to check it out the amazing wedding coordination by Jesi Haack and floral design by JL Designs.

Aaron’s take on this DIY wedding: The bride’s lovely mom was a sewing maniac! We decided to give each guest a hand crafted bowtie (guys) or a hand sewn hair bow (girls) as a favor and seat assignment tag. It was amazing to see all of the guests wearing their favor throughout the night! From hand sewn pillows by the mother of the bride to homemade bowtie stir sticks by the bride herself. The guests signed a card that was attached to a peacock feather and were to place the feather into the tail of Petey. Instead, they kind of ended up sticking his feathers all over his body. SO FUN. And how can we not talk about the silly string grand exit?
