Top 10 Weddings of 2010 – Sweet Maui Beach Wedding

December 21, 2010 in BEACH WEDDING, Top 10 Weddings of 2010 by Chantale

Of course, no top 10 wedding list would be complete without a gorgeous beachy wedding.  Something to make us all wish we’d hit the tanning bed and looked a little more glowing and vibrant then…well then what I look like right now!  This pale, Canadian was instantly smitten with this Maui beach wedding shot by Amelia Lyon , it was love at first sight.  Warm weather envy aside, the sweet details from this wedding – the peacock feathers, the lanterns, the invites – were unique and stunning.  I think it’s time we all booked a vacation somewhere warm.  Don’t you?

Stay tuned, another top 10 wedding coming your way tomorrow!

I highly recommend checking out more of Amelia’s amazing photography on her blog.  And check out our other Top 10 Weddings of 2010 here.

Incredible Beach Wedding – Fall In Love With The Maldives

December 8, 2010 in BEACH WEDDING by Chantale

I think we’re taking things to a whole other level of beauty today. And with it, a whole new level of jealousy from this frosty Canadian. First of all I should clarify that these are pre-wedding photos on Baros & Cocoa Island, care of the fantastically talented BRIDES on 22.  If this is what the PRE wedding photos look like CAN YOU IMAGINE what the actual wedding photos are going to look like.  Cuz I can’t.  I’m fairly certain it doesn’t get prettier than this.  The Maldives are made up of a chain of nearly 1,200 islands, just off the Indian sub-continent. (Yes, I asked lord google) And after seeing these intensely beautiful beach wedding photos (staring out my own window at the snowy tundra and then burying my head in my hands for a bit), I actually searched some more photos of the Maldives and they are just OUT OF THIS WORLD. But back to these photos, how fun are Yansen and Suriyanti? Answer: Super fun.  Between the striking styling of this shoot (again care of Brides on 22) and the incredibly unique and jaw-dropping photography – I think it’s safe to say that I’m REALLY excited for Yansen and Suriyanti’s wedding!!  Here’s Lilysan, the stylist from Brides on 22, with details from this shoot:

They chose The Maldives because they wanted a romantic feel and an elegant yet intimate beachy feeling. After learning about their characters as individuals and a couple, we decided on a very ‘organic’ and ‘natural’ concept for the photoshoots. That’s why there’s minimalistic approach throughout the whole photography approach. Their makeup and hair were kept simplistic. We also tried to reach a heavenly and intimate feel that The Maldives offer too. We stayed at two of the most popular resorts in The Maldives. Cocoa Island and Baros. They were super great venues. It was quite challenging to have to produce hundreds of photos from 2 resorts. But they were both very cooperative and the concept just flew naturally around them, since they both have original chemistry. Hence, it’s not hard to bring out the chemistry in them.

The photographer even had to jump into the water for most of the shots, to get the real feel of The Maldives. At few times, he even had to climb the high walls to get an extreme angle. (Let’s hope the hotel management doesn’t get to read this, as I’m not sure they’d let us do that if they had known hahaha).

Cabo San Lucas Destination Wedding – Beach Chic

November 22, 2010 in BEACH WEDDING, Real Weddings, Wedding Blog, wedding photos by Chantale

I hear people say it all the time: “If I had to do it all over again, I’d totally take off and have a beach wedding.” Which makes me think that Nick and Sara are geniuses to do it in the first place.  Today’s Cabo San Lucas wedding, shot by Luna Photography, is warm, sunny and super chic. I think some may crinkle their nose at the idea of a destination wedding for fear of photos of them barefoot starring at a groom in a white linen suit (which PS looks good on like 4% of the male population. MAX.)  And I’m not sure who decided that that was the beach wedding “look” but today we’re throwing the linen suit idea away.  We’re bringing black tie to the beach.  And it looks good.  And I mean GOOD.  It doesn’t hurt that both Nick and Sara uber good looking.  Nor does it hurt that they infused the adorable concept of Mexican chic through pops of pink and orange color (we heart the pomanders!).  Bravo to Luna Photo for capturing every moment perfectly – any photo could easily be an ad for a super high end beach resort.

Before I let Sara fill us in on all the little secrets of her day, I have to say her welcome bags sound killer.  Just the perfect beachy welcome:

We wanted to make sure that our own personal style was reflected in our wedding. We created table names that were various words associated with love, and we wrote them in Spanish (ie: Amor, Beso, Amistad, Confianza). Our escort cards were heart-shaped, cork-top bottles filled with tequila and tied with colored ribbon that held each guest’s name. We gave all of our guests welcome bags filled with a Cabo Magazine, a CD that we created, local wine, sunscreen, bottled water, snacks, and a handmade program that included info on all wedding events as well as local info (ie: Recommended restaurants, activities, etc). Our theme was “Mexican Chic”- we had bright pink and orange pops of color (bridesmaid dresses, hanging pomanders, flowers on cake) combined with neutral colors (white/ivory flower bouquets, linens, candle luminary centerpieces, lounge furniture). Our signature cocktail was a watermelon margarita, and our cake flavors were red velvet and pina colada.

California Wedding Photos – Supper Club Style

October 21, 2010 in BEACH WEDDING, California Wedding, Style Me Pretty, Vintage Wedding, wedding photos by Chantale

Care to have your wedding resemble a swanky, LA supper club?  No problem.  I gotcha covered.  Today’s guest post for Style Me Pretty throws down the perfect combo of ocean-wedding-meets-ultra-chic-lounge.  I had so much wedding envy that I almost photoshopped myself into a few of these wedding photos.  With Beyonce and Jay Z.  Just for kicks.  That’s just how celeb this wedding is.

Washington Wedding Shoot – Vintage Wedding Inspiration

August 20, 2010 in BEACH WEDDING, Outdoor Wedding Ideas, Vintage Wedding, Washington Weddings, Wedding Inspiration by Chantale

Isn’t this the perfect send off to the work week? An incredible vintage inspired Washington wedding shoot? Aubrey from Aubrey Joy Photography is clearly a creative and vintage-minded individual. I love the fresh fruit she uses to add a punch of color to these wedding inspiration photos.  The soft, muted colors of these images are just dreamy.  Happy weekend everyone!

A note from Aubrey regarding the inspiration for this shoot:  That shoot was so much fun! Its always so great when a couple gets as excited about a shoot as I do. The inspiration actually started from my parents attic. I am always looking for fun, creative props and themes to use with clients at shoots. Props can be quirky, but they always seem to allow the couple to feel more relaxed, fun…..themselves. I hit the jack pot when I found my great grandmothers HUGE old handmade frame, some old china from Norway, and a few more treasures. I decided to throw it all together with a pretty yellow dress, and whoola! Vintage shoots give the feeling of timeless images, I think that is why a lot of people are really drawn to them. Those images will never be “dated” or out of style because they are reflecting a jumble of different time lines and hopefully mirroring back the couples’ personalities in an artistic way. I feel in love with the idea of a tea party in the middle of nowhere. Before this shoot I had an idea in my mind of what I hoped the end result would look like… and this time I was able to accomplish it… ha, I love it when that happens!
