Balloon Engagement Inspiration Shoot {Winnipeg}

Manitoba love!  We love our Manitoba brides so I was so stoked to receive this Winnipeg anniversary shoot from Kara and Becky of Jack and Ruby Photography.  It’s creative shoots like this that inspire our brides with ideas for their own engagement photos.  Here is Kara and Becky with some info from this shoot:

Krysten and Luke booked us for some 2 year anniversary photos.  It had rained cats and dogs on their wedding day and they were not able to get any pictures outside so we knew we wanted to make this shoot EXTRA special for them.  In our first brainstorming emails with Krysten she sent us a link to a YouTube video of the Owl City song Hot Air Balloon and said she and Luke loved this song.  With that first image of a hot air balloon in the video was enough to get our brains working in over time!  What could we do that was fun and cute like the song and how do we get a hot air balloon?  After a lot of brainstorming and a few diagrams we decided we would make the hot air balloon.  This was our big DIY project for the shoot and thankfully we had some talented help!  Kara’s wonderfully crafty sister who puts Martha Stewart to shame constructed the basket of the balloon with a large cardboard box, packing paper and a few rolls of rope for details.  Once we got the basket to the site of the shoot we inflated the helium balloons and attached them to the basket.

These photos were shot on the top of a hill in a park in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada.  Once the hot air balloon “landed” we headed into some trees for a picnic and some snuggles and then took a walk in the countryside to enjoy the sunset.
