DIY Pom Tutorial {DIY Weddings}

One of the most loved wedding DIY projects of the past few years: DIY Wedding Poms. I’m been asked a few times how you put these adorable DIY creations together so today I thought I’d share a tutorial with you all.
STEPS:
- Stack eight 20-by-30-inch sheets of tissue. Make 1 1/2-inch-wide accordion folds, creasing with each fold.
- Fold an 18-inch piece of floral wire in half, and slip over center of folded tissue; twist. With scissors, trim ends of tissue into rounded or pointy shapes.
- Separate layers, pulling away from center one at a time.
- Bend wire into a loop to fit around napkin, and twist end around loop to secure.

Easy, affordable and lovely. We’ve seen them in so many killer weddings. Here are a few of our faves…

I used the very same tutorial when I made these for my daughter’s 3rd birthday party. They weren’t a huge trend then so no one even seemed to notice but I loved the look! There are so many uses for these and they are so easy to make, even for the not so crafty crafter!
So stinkin’ cute!
I can remember making these when I was a little girl…they are so cute and reminiscent of carnations (but they won’t wilt)!
Terribly adorable!
I love the DIY trend in weddings. I did my own flowers, bouquets, and bridesmaid dresses. It was way more fun than just buying everything! These poms are cute, cute, cute!
Lovely DIY. I wish my hands were up to the task…
That’s a great idea!! Lovely!
Beautiful flowers!Wonderful design!Love them,thanks for your sharing!
Hi Chantale,
Love the post. The poms are adorable, what a great idea! Klutz used to sell this great book, teaching how to replicate different floral types in paper. It reminded me of long rainy days making those.
I wanted to link back to this post in my next post about DIY ideas. Would it be okay to use the title image in our post, as a linked photo to your blog post?
I just made one of these to test it out. It was incredibly easy and I will be using these to decorate tents at my outdoor wedding. I think I will try mixing tissue colors next time to make a fun petal effect. Thanks for the post!
