DUDESDAY: 5 Things NOT to Say to Your Bride {Plus Bomb Boutonnieres}
Dudesday! It’s spring and I am loving it. The weather is getting warmer, people are falling in lurve and I have a great Dudesday for you. If you grooms are anything like me, you may at times put your foot in your mouth. And by “at times”, I mean daily. It can be hard to know how to respond when your fiance asks you if her wedding dress has gotten tighter since the first fitting (the answer is no btw). Because I am in such a great mood this week’s Dudesday brings you the Top 5 Things NOT To Say To Your Bride:
- “Ahh who cares?” – When you are asked your opinion on something to do with the planning of your wedding, try and stay interested. Don’t make your bride feel like it doesn’t matter to you as much as it matters to her. That’s a bummer for her.
- “How much!?” – Obviously you need to have a budget when planning a wedding but if all you do is complain about how much everything costs, it will take a way from the joy of the occasion.
- “Oh. I forgot to tell you” - Try and keep your bride up to date on any changes to the schedule or the planning. Don’t leave things till the last minute. That will stress her out further.
- “You’re inviting him!?” Try not to have issue with who she decides to invite to the wedding. If she really wants to invite her co-worker who smells like cabbage, let her have her way on this one.
- “This wasn’t my idea. I don’t wanna help.” Granted, it may not have been your idea to make 150 tins of granola as your wedding favors but guess what? She loves the idea. And whether you like it at the time or not – on your wedding day, it’s gonna look great so give the girl a hand and be a good boy. Brownie points will be earned!
There you have it! A little bit of Dudesday advice to keep you out of the doghouse. I’ve also included my Top 10 Boutonnieres here for you guys to look through. Bouton-WHAT? Yeah, boutonnieres. It’s the thing they put on your lapel. So you better get familiar with them and figure out which one of these puppies you like the best!

Terrific advice, and compliance with these tips will definitely make the day go smoother! These boutonnieres are really great, I love 4,7,9 and 10. Great colors!
Michael: you rock. Truth and more truth was told here
– and aye, why not have fun planning that wedding afterall. It takes two to make it work!
haha i might print this out and leave it for the boy to find
Love this Dudesday advice-I’m passing this on to John!
Great tips! Well, talking about the wedding should be the couple’s decision. Guys must not leave all the responsibilities to their partner. It is a little bit tiring at times. The bride will be more excited if the groom is always there in her side. And with the boutonnieres, there are pretty awesome. Now I am aware if what is the perfect for my guests.
M you are so sage!
hey Michael…..I am sure you learned these great “not to say” from your own wedding experience!
