Michigan Wedding {DIY Wedding Ideas}
My mission today is to make Monday a bit easier on you. I’ve never met a person who’s favorite day was Monday (And if I did I wouldn’t trust them). That being said, we’re throwing down a super pretty, DIY wedding today to help you through your manic Monday. This hand crafted barn wedding is big on signage. LOVE the rustic signs for, well, for just about everything! Gina&Tony Photographers were the artists behind today’s shots. And I’m so grateful for their attention to the gorgeous details from this wedding. The tablescape photos are killing me. Vintage fabric on the tables? GENIUS! The wedding “doilies”, the cake topper and button favors are killer as well. Lots of juicy details to pull from!

Here’s what our lovely photographers had to say about this wedding: Mary & Josh planned the perfect vintage wedding at the Blue Dress Barn in southwest Michigan. Mary is a graphic designer by trade, and created all the stationery for the wedding. She collected dozens of vintage accessories to decorate the barn with. The ceremony took place outdoors between the two silos and the reception took place in the barn’s loft. Many elements of the wedding were DIY including the flowers, tablescapes, DJ (a close friend), and ceremony (the groom’s brother officiated)! Their personalities were shown throughout the entire event.

Love the brides shoes and the happily ever after sign! How cute. I actually adore those laser cut Mary and josh papers as well, how gorgeous.
Hi there, bride here. We had the paper banners (papel picado) custom made for us at Casa Bonampak, a lovely local store in our old neighborhood in San Francisco. They are actually hand made (punch cut I believe) in Mexico by traditional artists.

The paper banners are actually not laser cut, they are hand made by Paper Cutter Artisans in Central Mexico where villages are dedicated to this wonderful tradition. They are hand made using chisels with different shapes and hammered out hence the name ‘PAPEL PICADO’ (cut-outs).
I recall working on Mary & Josh’s customized order – how wonderful to see the ‘papel picado’ banners so elegantly displayed. We wish their marriage many blessings !
Cheers,
Nancy

I have a serious crush on those papers-how darling!
BTW – all of the signs came with the venue. (they weren’t ours) Amy & Kirby at the Blue Dress Barn are awesome.

The bride is a graphic designer and did all of the invites! xoxo
Does she do freelance work?

Where did hanging white lanterns come from?
Hi Susan – you can buy lanterns at Michaels and most party stores! xoxo
WOW! AMAZING WEDDING….I JUST LOVE THOSE MICHIGAN BUTTONS…..WHERE DID YOU GET THEM?
dEB
Hello, bride here again.
I’m a graphic designer (unfortunately I don’t do any freelance at the moment) sooooo, I got a little nerdy with all the printed goods. The buttons were hand made by me and my friends. I have one of those industrial table top button makers (I used to make a lot of buttons for friends bands).
I designed everything and then to put it together I had a print-production party a week or two before where I invited a group of girlfriends over, fed them brunch, plied them with adult beverages and set up an assembly line to cut out all the post cards, make all the buttons and create the table tents you see here.
oops. hit submit too soon. The buttons and table cards were inspired by my husbands vintage postcard collection. (He has collected postcards from Michigan where I’m from and Ohio where he grew up.) Each table had a different postcard design and number. The buttons were different designs for each person but corresponded with the postcard design for their table. Each was different, but you happen to see one of the michigan designs here.
if you want to see more details, i think there are pics on the photographers blog as well. http://www.gntphoto.com/blog/?p=882
