Fashion Friday – Creating Your Own Vintage Wedding

Let’s dissect the aspects of a great vintage wedding, shall we?  Using this adorable Ontario vintage wedding shoot that was sent to me by the talented wedding photographer, Erin Samuell from A Simple Photograph, we’re going to get to talk about just WHAT makes a great vintage wedding GREAT.

  1. The Vintage Wardrobe - It’s all about the vintage details and the accessories.  2011 has brought more vintage details on wedding dresses than ever before.  And SLEEVES ARE BACK.  We’re seeing less strapless and more beautiful details along the shoulder and sleeves of bridal gowns.  And let’s not forget about gorgeous vintage wedding accessories like birdcage veils, peacock feather hair combs and jewelry you stole from grandma’s jewelry box!
  2. Vintage Wedding Decor – Let the vintage theme weave itself through your wedding favors, wedding cake, table settings and overall decor.  Old books, little birds, birch tree branches – whatever tickles your fancy, keep your theme going throughout your decor.
  3. Vintage Props – You may not have an old cast iron bed kicking around for photos but incorporating vintage items such as an old vintage type writer, vintage suit cases and other vintage props, adds a retro feel while keeping your wedding photos interesting and beautiful. Oh and PS You can rent vintage items for your big day as well!
  4. LOVE – L.O.V.E .  Gotta have it.  It oozes from pictures.  Much like it oozes from this gorgeous wedding shoot.  Thanks to Erin and her wonderful team for putting together this amazing, bohemian vintage shoot!
