Snohomish Rustic Wedding – DIY Outdoors!
Outdoor vs indoor. It’s a fairly huge dilemma for many brides. Do you risk the possibility of inclement weather in order to achieve the perfect rustic wedding? Or to you play it safe inside? Well, the truth is that there are many factors each bride must weigh to make this decision. The largest being, where the heck do you live? For today’s bride and groom, Zach and Jackie the stars aligned for their Snohomish outdoor wedding and they partied the day away in the hot, hot heat. The blessed weather combined with the ever-so blessed talent of Joey Nicole Photography made for a perfectly rustic affair that went off without a hitch.
Truth: I’m guilty of starring at that amazing ring a little too long! I’m a sucker for vintage settings. Nice work, Jackie. Speaking of, here she is to tell us a bit more about her rustic wedding, including some DIY items:
From the time we started talking about our wedding, we knew we wanted to stand out from all the others we had been to. First, I knew I wanted everything to be outside. Also, I don’t like dull colors and I’ve never really liked too much white so I knew I wanted bold, bright colors all around us but didn’t want them to be too overpowering. I got the color scheme inspiration from a previous wedding I went to but had a different take on it.
We also wanted everything to be high quality but didn’t want to spend too much. So, we skipped certain things like programs, we made our own favors (caramel corn pouches), and we did appetizers only instead of a full sit-down meal which was great because all the food was very filling and it really made the event more of a social atmosphere. We also personalized a lot of elements to make everything more special to us. Zach hand made both the sign that says “Zach & Jackie” as well as the cupcake stand. He put a lot of work into those and they were both big hits with our guests! We didn’t hire anyone to design or coordinate, so we had a lot of help from family and friends. The mother of the bride, Corey, collected flowers from a Farmer’s Market that morning in our wedding colors and collected some other items to make the centerpieces fabulous.
Our day went great! It was extremely hot and it was an all outdoor venue so there was no option to move things inside if it rained but it worked out amazing. There was a ton of shade for people to go to and plus the venue is on the property of a couple who did all the gardening and landscaping themselves, so there were plenty of areas for people to walk around and see that kept people busy, as well as a putting green for some miniature golf which was also enjoyable for the guests (and that was also where we did our first dance which made for great pictures!)
What we loved most about our wedding was how much fun everyone had, including us! It was truly an atmosphere filled with love and joy. Of course a few things went wrong but nobody noticed, and we hardly remembered by the end of the day. It was so great to have so many friends and family members go to such great lengths to make it out to be with us, especially since so many people drove or flew from out of state. We enjoyed every minute of being with the ones we love and everyone we talked to said it was well worth the travel and several people even said it was the best wedding they’d ever been to which meant the absolute world to us!
