DIY Wedding Ideas: Pinwheel Cake Topper
What do most brides need? EASY, AFFORDABLE DIY WEDDING IDEAS. Yup, let’s not beat around the bush. We want it cute, we want it cheap and we need it to be done quickly. Is that too much to ask for??? CERTAINLY NOT! Especially when we have the lovely Sofia, of BrancoPrata, delivering an adorable…
DIY pinwheel cake topper tutorial!
Sofia and her husband André are a complete package when it comes to wedding vendors: he’s a wedding photographer and she does invites and flowers. How perfect is that? That being said, Sofia is no stranger to DIY projects and wanted to share this cute little pinwheel number with us. Thanks Sofia!
DIY PINWHEEL CAKE TOPPER MATERIALS:
- pages from an old book (any size)
- hot glue gun or double sided transparent tape
- scissors
- paper cutter
- small wooden sticks
- small wooden letters
- wooden embroidery hoop
STEPS:
Step 1. Start by taking the paper and accordion folding it, making the folds about 0.4 inch wide
Step 2. divide the folded page in 3 equal parts, about 2.4 inches wide
Step 3. Fold each one in half
Step 4. With the double sided transparent tape glue the middle of each small accordion folded paper
Step 5. Glue the 3 parts on to each other making the perfect pinwheel.
Step 6. With the hot gun or the doubled side transparent tape, glue a piece of paper to the wooden stick and then to the back of the pinwheel
Step 7. Glue the wooden letters to the center of the pinwheel
Experiment with different sizes and colors, papers with patterns or acrylic letters if you want a modern, eclectic look!
To do a beautiful backdrop for your wedding cake table, you can hang wooden embroidery hoops (different sizes look cool!) and glue different sized pinwheels.
