Are you even ready for this? Listen, I know it’s Monday…we’re all a little wonky and wishing it was still yesterday…but I just had to unleash this intensely cool vintage real wedding on you guys first thing this morning. This one is epic I tell you. Vintage coolness coming at you every which way with peacock feather details and DIY projects. It’s unreal. Oh, and did I mention this wedding is shot by the incredible duo over at Angela and Evan Photography? Seattle brides be warned – they’re the best.
Our Belle Bride today, Kelly, is cute as a button and I love her choice of dress! I’ll let her fill you guys in on the ins and outs of her day. And be sure to check back later for more INSANELY cool DIY reception details!
My inspiration for they day started with a peacock feather. We incorporated a feather on each save the date, and the font that looked best was “Jane Austen” which looked just like her handwriting, and an Art Deco print. So without even realizing it, we were establishing a vintage eclectic theme. In our normal lives, we are attracted to décor that is antique, unique, and diverse so it was only natural that our theme reflect this. Our favorite venue happened to fit this theme as well. The Lake Union Café has the embellished chandeliers, decorative accents on the bronze plated ceilings, and deep candlelit booths that I could picture a movie star from the 40’s sitting at with a cocktail. I knew I wanted the bridesmaids to wear navy blue, because I felt like it was a color that would never go out of style. It’s classic, looks good on everyone, and when we look back at pictures 40 years from now we would still think the color was beautiful. Next was my dress. My favorite dress was very vintage yet current, and with a finger weave and feather in my hair I certainly fit the vibe. We carried the feather through to the invitations and to the décor at the venue, but we didn’t want it to be over the top with peacock feathers everywhere. We used assorted darker colors of feathers to tie the theme throughout without making it over the top and lot’s of colorful and exquisite flowers in arrangements of all shapes and sizes displayed everywhere. There was nothing cookie cutter about the day; everywhere you looked was something new, different and beautiful, and it all tied together so perfectly.
To say it was perfect would be an understatement. It was a sunny Seattle day, which doesn’t happen to often in February. I had a makeup artist and hair stylist I completely trusted and made me feel beautiful. I didn’t have to worry about a thing except enjoying every moment. Something I learned from the experience: pick a venue that has a day of Event Coordinator! I seriously didn’t realize how important this was until my wedding day! Here is the cherry on top: I left a folder in the van that brought us to the Café. It had the some very important things in it, i.e. $500 in gift certificates to the Salish Lodge where we were honeymooning, and $800 in cash to give to the band. Losing that folder was all that I could think about, and Dann, the on-site amazing Coordinator, assured me as I was walking down the aisle that everything would be okay and that he would take care of it. With the help of his crew, he convinced the van company (who said there was no folder in the van) to come all the way back to the Café so that they could search themselves. They searched the van and found the folder under a seat. When I walked down the aisle after getting married, I saw Dann standing there with the folder. It’s this small example; something gone terribly wrong that instead was remedied by people who cared and who made the day remain perfect.

Is there any way you can tell me where the boys got their suits?
Hi Lauren – they got their suits at the Tuxedo Club in Kirkland. Hope that helps!
