DIY Cake Stand – Wedding/Bridal Shower Ideas

So these are cute, aren’t they? I love cupcake stands, so this DIY cupcake stand or cupcake tree was so up my alley. I purchased the plates for this project from a local vintage store since I fell in love with the cute 60’s flower print. I guarantee this is a DIY for any bride with any level of “craftiness”
Materials:
1. Plates varying in sizes. I preferred them getting smaller the higher they went but it’s completely up to you. For the “supporting dividers” you can use cups or shot glasses or old vintage candle holders. That’s what I used! Mess around and pile a few different options on top of one another…have fun!
2. Crazy clue. The crazier, the better.
3. Measuring Tape
4. Pencil
5. Book or heavy object to weigh down the glued pieces
Steps:
1. Measure the distance across your plates to determine the center.
2. Mark your center using a pencil and your “supporting dividers”.
3. Glue the heck out of the rim of your supporting divider and place it on your plate.
4. Repeat the process with the next level.
5. Once everything is glued, I placed a heavy book to weigh down the finished product and let it sit overnight. This is important. Your glue may say to leave it for only half an hour or so but, trust me, leave it overnight.
And voilà! Your finished product will be uniquely yours and oh-so-pretty! Now go on and grab that cupcake…

Actually I believe most places that do wedding cakes will also do these for you!
I totally made two of these, but I used some vintage wine and champagne flutes. A little more fragile, but I love the look.
I also used these for my own wedding!! Love it!!
i just bought that same plate at a thrift store!! unfortunately they only had one so i just used a vintage wooden candlestick & made a tiny cake stand! so fun! great post!

What type of glue did you use?
Hi Angie – We used the craziest adhesive glue we could find. I went to home depot and I think it was called Monkey glue. or something with the name Monkey in it!
But any crazy glue should work!
