Real Wedding: Cori + E.B.

Hold up! This one is crazy good. Today's DIY-packed real wedding is brought to you by San Francisco wedding photographer Jerry Yoon. It's plain to see that Jerry has the knack for extracting all the raw style and elegance out of a wedding day in his photos.

Cori and E.B., our bride and groom, are from LA but their love for San Fran made the city an easy choice as the backdrop for their day. Cori is an absolute DIY fiend! Everything from invites to goody bags, the bride's jewelery to the 'Just Married' sign was Cori's work. She's a DIY machine!

Style-wise this wedding is on point. A little vintage inspiration drizzled throughout but nothing too overpowering. Everything is tasteful and subtle, with an edge. I have to say one of my favorite elements of this wedding is the groom's ring. It's absolutely gangsta.

Cori gives us the downlow about their day:

Our task was to create a balance between traditional and edgy. I would say our theme was 'Vintage Modern'. Every step of the way we strived to have a fresh approach to vintage style. We wanted to be able to look back years from now and feel the same sense of history we feel when looking at our grandparents’ wedding photos. So there was no question San Francisco would be the perfect backdrop for our wedding.

I think it is important to mention that our day was really a love letter to SF. Even though we reside in LA we visit SF all the time to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries or just to regenerate. Loving SF is one of the commonalities that bonded us when we first started dating. There was no question we wanted to get married there. San Francisco and the City Hall building, both embody the ‘Vintage Modern’ theme fully. SF is a place filled with history, but is also the birthplace of progressive ideas and cutting edge design. We carried this theme over into our invitations, clothing and agenda for the day.

As the bride and crafter in the family, it was really up to me to execute our combined vision for all the personal DIY touches for the event. I made the bouquet, boutonnières for the men, and had vintage inspired hankies embroidered for the ladies. I also put together 'I love SF' goody bags filled with treats for the Cable Car ride. The bags included souvenirs such as snow globes, trolley car charms, SF signature treats like sour dough chips, Ghirardelli chocolates, salt water taffy from Fisherman's Warf (all purchased online). My favorite item was the wedding favors we included in the goody bags; Glassine envelopes that enclosed vintage SF postcards from the forties (purchased on ebay. Some used, some unused so it was really fun reading the correspondences from SF visitors from so long ago.) I used vintage inspired grosgrain ribbon and created a custom label which I used as a seal. I really loved these.

The ride around the city (between destinations) in the cable car was really fun. We all had a great time. We did our best to share our SF love affair with our guests. We think we accomplished this by totally immersing them in the SF experience for the day. We all had a blast together.

Marrying my best friend, in our favorite city, surrounded by the special people in our lives. It could not have been better.

Thanks Cori! Congrats! And thanks to fab photographer Jerry Yoon, whom Cori could not say enough about. Cori says out of 100 photographers that she researched Jerry came out on top. And we can see why!

Ok Cori, the bride was having computer issues so she wanted me to pass this along:

Hi La Belle Bride! Cori here. Thanks (to everyone) for the compliments. The necklace is a vintage art deco, rhinestone piece from the thirties. I think I found it on etsy or ebay, I cant remember. Also rubylane.com is a great resource for vintage jewelry..focus on geometric, repetitive shapes and you can get something pretty similar! Happy hunting!
