DIY Wedding Ideas: Gingerbread Gift Box Wedding Favors

I love DIY wedding favors, but this one is an especially delicious treat. A gift box…you can EAT?!! Now that’s my kind of gift box…

This DIY gingerbread box was a huge hit with my pals. Fill this edible wedding favor with treats as a gift for your guests! And lemme tell you, we had a riot making these as well.

Wine + gingerbread making = fun.

Gingerbread Box Materials:

- Gingerbread recipe ingredients (as per House and Home)
- Knife
- Rolling pin
- Cookie Sheet
- Acetate paper or plain paper
- Decorative ribbon
- Sandwich bag or pipping bag for icing
- Gingerbread Box Template

Gingerbread Box Steps:

  1. Make the gingerbread dough and icing as per the instructions, cut out the template onto your acetate sheets or paper and prepare an area for yourself to roll out your dough.
  2. Roll out your dough until about 1/4 – 1/2 an inch thick.
  3. Cut out the acetate template from your dough with a knife.
  4. Put them on a baking sheet and bake under a watchful eye for 10-12 min. NOTE: The smaller end pieces may have to be taken out sooner.
  5. Take out and let cool.
  6. Get your icing ready! I filled my icing into a plastic bag and cut the end off to make my own pipping bag.
  7. The next steps are all about putting your box together. Be generous with the icing making sure that both sides of the pieces you’re connecting have some icing. Hold the pieces together for a minute so they set. Once the box is complete let it sit for 20 minutes. Then put it in the freezer for another ten. The lid is simple a straight top so once you’re finished, fill the box with goodies and place the lid on top. Decorate as you wish!

Hope you enjoyed this delish DIY. I did! Have a great weekend!
