Matt & Jana’s Vintage Wedding

Attention DIY wedding lovers: this California wedding is jam packed with DIY inspiration!

I met Jana through one of my favorite Etsy sellers who happens to be Jana’s mother. The second I saw the pics for this stunning, stylish wedding I knew I wanted to feature it.

Jana and Matt crafted most of the decor elements for their wedding themselves. Jana and her mother also designed and made the bridesmaid dresses along with Jana’s veil. Gorgeous stuff!

DIY projects aside, talk about a breathtaking venue. Maravilla Gardens, a picturesque estate overlooking the Santa Rosa Valley, looks like an absolute dream of a place to have a wedding. The talented Marianne Wilson did a fantastic job of capturing the artistic yet fun-loving mood for the day. (Love the pictures on the barrels of hay!)

Jana sent me some details on this wedding that I thought I’d share with you all:

The inspiration for our wedding was using nature’s simple elegance. After we picked our venue, our theme fell into place. Maravilla is an outdoor venue with stunning views and lots and lots of foliage. We wanted to have a classic, timeless wedding day. We let the colors of nature be “our colors” (green, tans, neutrals) Then I chose a burnt orange for the bridesmaids dresses and Matt chose the deep plum for accents.

We are both artists, so we took on a lot of the DIY stuff ourselves. For the invitations we bought all the supplies, did all the sketches . Matt and a friend printed the invitations on a printing press. We also made all of our table numbers and escort cards. I did line drawing of places we like to go and then glued smaller versions along with the escort cards to a giant canvas. We had so much fun designing and printing all these projects. It was truly a team effort.

There was such a sense of peace and happiness in the air. I remember every second of that day from waking up, to getting pampered, taking pictures with our amazing photographer, standing at the alter and saying our vows. I’ll always remember the moment right after the ceremony, when all the family were gathered and hugging, completely elated!

We treasure every little memory from that night. The toasts were beautiful, the food was delicious. Matt and I did a duet together (Ingrid Michaelson’s ‘You and I’) and everyone raved about how special and unique that was.

All in all it was the very best day of our lives. I could not have asked for anything more. I married my best friend on a sunny beautiful day with all our loving friends and family around us. What more could you ask for!

Thanks Jana! Awesome job styling such a fantastic wedding.
